hit the road, Raff...
So we are off this morning... luckily the departure time is pushed back to 10am, so I can comfortably get my morning going. I am glad I went to bed early last night, I was just wiped out, and now I have an extra early start to the day. I'll shower, head over to dad's place to plant the candy lily (pardancanda) seeds, and then pop in to work where I can perhaps make a couple of calls before we're off. The first night we'll stay in Dilijan, but the second, at a fancy American-Armenian hotel - just beautiful. Hopefully I'll have internet there.

After doing some link-hopping, I realized that you are Raffi Kojian. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations and thanks to you, for making Cilicia.com and now Armeniapedia. Your work and commitment to our people and culture is truly commendable. I'm presently working for the Armenian Weekly. If you have any stories that you would like to share, re-publish from your blog ... start a repat's eye view column in the paper a la Alex Sardar at Asbarez ... let me know.
Thanks Jenny! :-) Glad to hear you enjoy the websites. I have a fear of commitment to weekly articles, but if I feel inspired I'll let you know. Meanwhile if there's a post you'd like to reprint let me know.
Hi Raffi :)
How about monthly columns? Thank you for the reprint permission. I should direct your attention to another young man who is blogging about Armenia: Jefferey Dunaway, Jr. at vochmeban.blogspot.com
We're reprinting one of his commentaries this week.
And, btw, I completely empathize with you about missing your own bed and home.
I think Armenians, and all of those who identify with us, for better or worse all have this bantookht/taparagan inclination.
Monthly is certainly easier, but let's see if I have much to say first :-)
Also - I think you misunderstood. I am not giving blanket permission to reprint from this page!!! I need you to ask me if you like something whether I'd feel comfortable with it being published on paper. Sorry, I know it's a bit of a pain, but I am writing this page as more of a personal journal than anything else, so I might not be comfortable with certain entries being put in print...
You said "Let me know" in your first post. I hadn't misunderstood -- of course I would ask first. I contacted Jefferey for permission to reprint from his blog a post about Ambassador Evans.
I wouldn't just copy things. I keep a blog myself, and as a journalist I understand the laws regarding reprinting and licensing. A blog is it's own publication, technically you can't reprint anything without asking first.
Even for my blog, when I post my articles, if it's a piece I submitted only to Asbarez or the Weekly, I say 'reprinted from with permission'.
=)
But, my little caveat to you--things are far easier found on the net than they'll ever be in paper. If anything, one should be more concerned about what they post online.
Not me, though ... might as well put it out there before someone else does it for you.
Ah, well we're on the same page then, cool. Yes, I know how easy things are found, and I certainly wouldn't post things that I don't expect the whole world to see. But meanwhile, knowing where else your writing may pop up besides where you put it is of course comforting...
